TRIT is a constant for any given engine model, but due to manufacturing tolerances from engine to engine across the model line, each engine will deliver a slightly different T5 Base at the rated TRIT.  This creates complexity for the control system because then you would need different T5 control set points for each engine and this could confuse operators who see different full load T5 readings for different engines on their HMI.     To get around this problem, the T5 control set points are standardized to a common value in the control specifications for each engine model, then T5 compensation adds or subtracts a constant number to the measured T5 so that the controls show the standardized common set point value when running at T5 Base (rated TRIT). T5 compensation is expressed as:    T5 Compensation = T5 Common Setpoint – T5 Base    The T5 readings will show the compensated values on the HMI    T5 Average (HMI) = T5 Average (raw measurement) + T5 Compensation    A constant error is built into the T5 reading, which of course is always there, even below full rated load.  The operator is always reading the “wrong” T5 on his HMI but it does not matter.  As long as the engine is operating below rated TRIT, the actual T5 reading is not important – with one exception.
