Course overview
The course provides details of Gas Turbine operations by using Mark VIe Speedtronic Control System. Beginning with an overview of the major Gas Turbine components and accessories together with the Operational sequences, control and protection functions as provided by the Speedtronic Control System. Gas Turbine simulator demonstration will allow delegates to view various operational problems, troubleshooting and fault finding techniques.

Course Description

This is a comprehensive technical training course on GE Gas Turbine Speedtronic Mark VI Control Systems. The program begins with fundamental concepts including gas turbine operation principles and an introduction to the Speedtronic control system topology and architecture. Participants learn about the Mark VI hardware components, including panel and modular concepts, various control cards, wiring systems both internal and external, and the main protection system called VPRO. The course covers essential documentation and supply voltage requirements that form the foundation for understanding these complex control systems.

The training progresses through advanced topics including gas turbine control theory covering startup, speed, temperature, and Inlet Guide Vane control methods, along with critical protection systems for over-speed, over-temperature, and combustion monitoring. Participants gain hands-on experience through simulation exercises using Toolbox and Cimplicity software for system operation, calibration procedures, troubleshooting techniques, and data exchange protocols. The course includes practical training on servo configuration, valve stroke checking, alarm tracing, trending analysis, trip history review, and software backup and restoration procedures. Throughout the program, students work with real-world scenarios to develop competency in maintaining and troubleshooting these sophisticated gas turbine control systems, concluding with a comprehensive review and feedback session.
