During the certified factory test of the gas turbine engine, special test only pressure, temperature, and airflow measurements are made to determine whether the engine is meeting the design and performance parameters it is built to.  These special measurements are not available or required for field operation.  Since TRIT cannot be directly measured using conventional instrumentation, it is calculated from these special measurements.    T5 is not used to calculate TRIT.  T5 is a standalone parameter.  TRIT is calculated from PCD (compressor discharge pressure), T2 (compressor discharge temperature), T7 (engine exhaust temperature), fuel flow, and airflow.      To certify the engine for field installation, the factory test requires that the engine be run at the full rated load – maximum TRIT, meeting power output and fuel flow specifications at this load condition.  T5 is also measured here so the relationship between TRIT and T5 for the full load condition is determined.  The value of this T5 measurement is then used by the fuel control system to maintain TRIT at or below the maximum allowable value during field operation.    In Solar terminology, the measured test T5 at the rated TRIT is called T5 Base.
